| Course outline |
In this English-taught course, we will examine property law from a comparative perspective. While the rough notion of exclusive ownership is common to all legal systems that recognize some form of private ownership, the implementation of that notion in law is filled with complexity, and plagued by political pressures. Subtle variations in the content of property law can lead to confusion in the forumulation of policy, and frustration among overseas investors. Those taking the course will have an opportunity to experience some of the subtle ways in which property systems can vary, with a view to avoiding some of these pitfalls. |
